How to get here
By car |
In La Serena take the "Ruta 41" towards the Elqui Valley. Follow this
road. You will pass the airport and then Vicuña and Rivadavia.
Short after the village of Rivadavia turn right (there are signs) towards
Paihuano, Montegrande, Pisco Elqui. You will arrive at the "Plaza" in Pisco
Elqui (easy to recognize because there is the church). Immediately after the
"plaza" turn right. At the end of this road (there you can only turn right or
left) - turn left. After about 100 meters you arrive at the Hosteria (at the left
side of the road).
The trip from La Serena to Pisco Elqui will take aproximately 1,5 hours. The last
gas station is in Vicuña!

The line "Via Elqui" starts from the bus-terminal "Terminal de buses" in La Serena towards Pisco Elqui - more or less every hour. From the "Plaza de Abasto" in La Serena you can take that line or another called "Sol de Elqui". The bus ride will take about 2,5 hours, the price is about $ 1.700 (Chilean Pesos). The last bus towards Pisco Elqui leaves La Serena at about 20.00 hrs.
You may also take a "colectivo" (shared taxi) from La Serena to Vicuña. These "colectivos" start from the Calle Domeyko, at the corner with Calle Balmaceda, central). The price is abt. $ 1.700 chil. Pesos and it is a lot faster. The colectivos leave once they are full (that doesn't take long normally). In Vicuña you take the bus to Pisco Elqui (price: abt. $ 1.000 chil. Pesos).

The airport of La Serena is located at the road towards Pisco
Elqui. There is a bus stop just in front of the airport.
You can also take a taxi to Vicuña or Pisco Elqui. At the airport
you have also the possibility of renting a car.
Private transportation to Pisco Elqui is also possible, contact
Daniel Russ, a Swiss guy who offers
tours and transfers. The transport to Pisco Elqui costs abt. $ 12.000 (Chil. Pesos) per
person (min. 2 persons).
